Miguel Salazar

Miguel Porras Salazar, 74 of Santa Rosa, NM went to be with his Lord on Friday, August 6, 2010. Miguel was born December 20, 1935 in Weslaco, TX to the home of Guadalupe and Rita (Porras) Salazar. As a young man he worked as a Farm Labor Contractor and for his entire adult life served as an Evangelist. Miguel married Beatrice Cordova on December 20, 1957 in Lubbock, Texas. They made their home in Santa Rosa in 1974 where they raised their family. Miguel is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, eight brothers, a grand-daughter Jenel Salazar; two grandsons Edward Romo and Jason Moises Miguel Salazar. Survivors include his wife Beatrice Salazar of the family home in Santa Rosa; four daughters Sylvia Maestas and husband Michael; Josie Hands; Mary Cordova and husband Gary; Maria Rita Salazar and partner Betty Weaver all of Santa Rosa; two sons Roger Salazar and wife Gina of Santa Rosa; Michael Salazar and wife Christine of Phoenix, AZ; two sisters Evangelina Morales of Santa Rosa and Guadalupe Villaverde and husband Eddie of Phoenix, AZ. Other survivors include 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. A prayer services will be held at 6:00 pm Sunday, August 8, 2010 from the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel in Santa Rosa, NM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, August 9, 2010 from Assembly of God Church in Santa Rosa, NM with Lorenzo Delgado officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Santa Rosa. Pallbearers will include Jamie Maestas, John Maestas, Carlos Cordova, Alexandria Salazar, Steven Cordova, Anthony Salazar and Ayla Weaver. Honorary bearers will include Angelina Salazar, Seth Cordova, Joaquin Estupinan, Juan Carlos Estupinan, Andrew Salazar, Andreana Salazar, Brooklyn Maestas, Michael Maestas, Jonah Maestas, and Josiah Maestas.
