Frank Douglas Snipes, 56, a longtime Albuquerque resident died Thursday, January 18, 2001 at his home. Doug was born October 3, 1944 in Fort Sumner to the home of Albert Snipes and the former Bonnie Louise Simmons. He was reared and attended schools at Albuquerque. Doug worked for many years at Firestone Tires in Albuquerque. He also owned and operated La Mesa Inn for several years. Doug was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include a son Todd Snipes, a daughter Tammy Forgey both of Albuquerque; his former wife Carolyn Snipes of Albuquerque; three brothers Jim Snipes of Lovington, NM; Burton Snipes of Tijeras; Clinton Snipes of Albuquerque; a sister Ardis Blanchard of Riverside, CA. Also surviving are two grandchildren, along with a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 23, 2001 from the Hassell Community Church, Hassell, New Mexico with Rev. Sherman Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Hassell Community Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to services. The family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society.
