Freddy Moncayo, age 60, passed away May 15, 2006 at the Albuquerque Regional Medical Center in Albuquerque with his family by his side. Freddy was born March 3, 1946 in Lon, New Mexico (Lincoln County) to the home of Seferino and Esther Pacheco Moncayo. He was reared and attended schools in Puerto De Luna and Santa Rosa. Freddy married Mary Angie Quintana on December 2, 1967 in Amarillo, TX. Freddy served the community of Santa Rosa as a Law Enforcement Officer for 25 years retiring in 1996. After his retirement he went to work for the Santa Rosa Consolidated Schools as a Prevention Officer for 10 years. Freddy demonstrated his love for music by playing in the Puerto De Luna Catholic Church Choir for numerous years. He and the choir membes would devote their time and talents by playing and singing for Masses, Weddings and Funerals. Freddy's love for music went beyond by playing in his band "Freddy and the Monticellos". There was not a guitar or an accordian that he could not play. He loved riding his motorcylce and his ranchito. He was a member of Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church in Puerto De Luna, Puerto De Luna Fire Department and the Puerto De Luna Senior Citizens. He is preceded in death by his father Seferino Moncayo, his brothers; Seferino Moncayo, Jr., and James Moncayo. Survivors include his wife Angie Moncayo of the family home in Puerto De Luna, his daughter; Carla Moncayo of Albuquerque, son; Freddy Moncayo, Jr. and finace Elaine Chavez of Santa Rosa, his mother; Esther P. Moncayo of Santa Rosa, brothers and sisters; Benny Moncayo and wife Esther of Avondale, AZ, Joe Moncayo and wife Rose of Tombstone, AZ, Johnny Moncayo and wife Dolores of Albuquerque, Clara Rice and husband Carl of San Antonio, TX, Cecilia Ardoin and husband Ken of San Antonio, TX, Tillie Fares of Kansas City, MO, and Rose Guldy and husband Ed of Albuquerque. Also surviving is his mother and father law Angelina Quintana and Toribio Flores of Puerto De Luna, brothers and sisters in law; Archie Quintana and wife Anita of Aurora, CO, Rebecca Marquez and husband Walter of Albuquerque, Alice Zamora and husband Larry of Albuquerque, Ramona Stoltz and husband Chris of Mountain Top, PA, Patrick Flores and wife Janey of Albuquerque and Jose Flores and wife Yolanda of Puerto De Luna along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Wednesday, May 17, at 7:00 PM from Nuestra Senora de Refugio Church in Puerto De Luna. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 18, at 11:00 AM also from Nuestra Senora de Refugio Church with Father Sotero Sena officiating. Burial will follow at the family plot at El Calvario Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Jose Flores, Patrick Flores, Manuel Moncayo, Peter Lucero, Michael Trujillo, Cesario "Chio" Moncayo. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Officer Martin Pacheco, Sheriff Robert Chavez, Sgt. Angelo Romo, Deputy Michael Lucero, Officer Berto Chavez, Chief Jesus Roybal and the members of the Puerto De Luna Choir. All services are entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
