Iris “June” Vaughan, 85 of Prescott, AZ died Saturday, August 12, 2006 at the Prescott Samaritan Village, Prescott, AZ. June was born, June 1st , 1921 to the late John and Minnie Josserand in Gray County, Kansas. The family moved to Fort Sumner, New Mexico in the ‘30’s where June met and married Frank Vaughan, November 17, 1936. They lived in the valley and farmed and ranched with Frank’s father George Vaughan, and after World War II, also with brother Neal Vaughan. The couple had two children; James Melvin, born 1937, died in 1943 and Barbara Janice, born 1939, died 1941. In 1952, they pulled up stakes and moved to Missouri where they ranched and owned and operated a meat processing plant in Warrensburg, MO and later in Warsaw, MO. In 1991 they retired, sold their business, land and home and moved to Prescott, AZ. Frank died in 1992 and is buried in Fort Sumner. She is survived by sisters and brothers-in-law Dorthea Snelson, Prescott, AZ; Ann and Dave Porter of Santa Fe, Jean and George Duriez, Vallejo, CA; George and Lela Vaughan, Albuquerque; Neal and Dorothy Vaughan, Fort Sumner; numerous nieces, nephews and a large family of Josserand cousins. A memorial service was held in Prescott, AZ on August 26. Graveside services will take place on Sunday, September 3, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fort Sumner Cemetery. Local arrangements are by Chavez Funeral Home.
