Mary Maes Baca, 90 a longtime resident of Oakland, CA died Friday, August 18, 2006 at Wine Country Care Center in Lodi, CA following a short illness. Mary was born April 3, 1916 in El Salado, De Baca County, New Mexico to the home of Juan and Lucia (Sena) Maes. She attended school at Yeso. Mary worked many years with Oak Knoll Navy Hospital in Oakland, CA. She was a member of St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church in Oakland. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, and gardening. Her family says she was a wonderful cook. Mary made her home in Roswell, NM prior to moving to Oakland. She was preceded in death by her husband Guy Baca; two sons Donnie and Gary Baca; her parents; five brothers, one sister and her step-mother Emelia Maes. Survivors include a son Jimmy Baca and wife Julia of Lodi, CA; daughter Lucy McLean and husband Jim of San Dimas, CA; grandchildren Gary Baca, Mark McLean, Richard (Kate) Baca, Derek (Terry) McLean, Rita (Steve) Bogner and Sandy (Mitch) Reed, twelve great-grandchildren, four sisters Gloria Sena, Helen Lopez, Teresa Maes, Ricardita Gauna and a brother Donisio Maes all of Fort Sumner. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 24, 2006 from St. Anthony Catholic Church, Funeral Mass will be celebrated from the church at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2006 with Father Jerry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark McLean, Richard Baca, Derek McLean, Gary Baca, Gary Baca Jr. and Johnathan O’Mullen.
