Louisa Romero

Rosary services for Louisa Romero will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 29, 2006 from St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 30, 2006 from the church with Father Jerry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot, Fort Sumner Cemetery. Louisa Romero, a lifelong De Baca County resident, died Sunday, June 24, 2006 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. Louisa was born in Ricardo, NM where she attended school. She made her home in Fort Sumner where she was employed as a housekeeper for Dr. Edward Fikany for over 50 years. Louisa enjoyed spending time with her family, dancing, and collecting family photographs. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles auxillary. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers Carlos Romero, Alfredo Romero, Kenneth Romero, Manuel Romero and Timoteo Ortega; three nephews Michael Sena, Kenneth Romero Jr., Tim Sena and a niece Cecilia Sena. Survivors include a nephew raised as her son, George Romero and wife Donella of Clovis, NM; a niece she raised Lydia Nieto of Fort Sumner and a granddaughter Jennifer Nieto of Las Cruces, NM; two sisters Clara Olona and husband Joe of Clovis; Romana Sena and husband Mariano of Fort Sumner; and her longtime companion Ray Mares of Fort Sumner.
