Adolfo Gauna, age 84, passed away May 16, 2006 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Albuquerque. Adolfo was born February 16, 1922 in Arroyo de Yeso, NM to the home of Procopio and Macedonia Trujillo Gauna. He was reared and attended schools in Yeso. Adolfo served in the United States Army during WW II. He worked in the Uranium Mines and as a bartender for many years. He was a long time resident of Vaughn and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Amelia Romo, Annie Tapia, brother; Willie Gauna, daughter; Mabel Gauna, Granddaughter; Carla Esquibel; stepson; Billy Fisher, Brothers in Law; Isidor Tapia, Daniel Chavez, Carlos Chavez, an infant daughter and infant son and his wive's Erma Ortiz, Mary Sanchez and Bertha Delgado Fisher. Survivors include his son Louis Gauna and wife Virginia of Vaughn, daughters; Esther Espinosa and husband Eddie of Ruidoso, Eloisa (Tooney) Gauna of Grants, sisters; Esther Chavez of Albuquerque, Rebecca Gauna of Vaughn, sister in law; Josie Gauna of Moriarty, brother in law; Tony Romo of Vaughn, stepson; Jackie Fisher; stepdaughter June Herrera of Grants. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place and a memorial rosary will be recited on Friday, May 19, at 7:00 PM from St. Mary's Church in Vaughn. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 20, at 10:00 AM also from St. Mary's Church with Father Gerald Johnson officiating. Burial of Cremains will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Louie Gauna, Kenny Espinosa, Martin Espinosa, Daniel Espinosa, William Gauna, Troy Harris, Michael Herrera and Mark Herrera.
