Pat Velasquez

Patricio "Pat" Velasquez, age 66, passed away Novemer 27, 2006 at the Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque following an illness. Pat was born March 15, 1940 in Las Vegas, NM to the home of Hilario and Aurelia Padilla Velasquez. He was reared and attended schools in Dilia. Pat married Maria Lopez in 1963. He worked for the Guadalupe County Road Department for several years and then for the New Mexico State Highway Department until his retirement in 1989. He and his wife Maria and family operated The Shawford Restaruant in Santa Rosa. Pat had a love for cars and horses, he loved managing the Restaurant as well as spending time with his family especially his brother Max. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers; Alex Velasquez and Alfred Velasquez, sisters; Marcella Padilla and Carmen Chavez. Survivors include his wife Maria of the family home in Santa Rosa, his children, Patricia and husband Mike, Eddie and wife Diane, Billy and wife Joyce all of Santa Rosa, grandchildren; Jennifer, Mercedes, Pat Jr., Vanessa Romero and great granddaughter; Ivoree Marie. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters; Isabel Martinez of Santa Rosa, Emeterio Velasquez and wife Terry of Roswell, Marilyn Gallegos and husband Pat of Albuquerque, Hilario Velasquez and wife Mildred of Albuquerque, Max Velasquez and wife Gabby of Santa Rosa, Dolores Cordova and husband David of Anton Chico, sister's in Law; Patsy Velasquez and Geraldine Velasquez, brother's in law; Albert Chavez and Tony Padilla as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be conducted on Thursday, November 30, at 7:00 PM from St. Rose of Lima Church in Santa Rosa. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 1, 2006 at 10:00 AM also from St. Rose Church with Father Nick Nichols Officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa. Serving as Pallbearers will be his nephews; Adam Cordova, Michael Velasquez, Melvin Martinez, Roy Chavez, Kevin Velasquez, Chris Gallegos, Steven Padilla, Tim Velasquez, William Velasquez and Alexis Velasquez. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be James Cordova, Arturo Ortega, Jim Sena, Adolph Romero, Albert Campos, Orlando Pacheco, Alfonso Campos, James Lang and Ralph Sierra.
