Bernice "Tennie" Cooper, age 79, passed away May 30, 2006 at Trigg Memorial Hospital in Tucumcari following an illness. Tennie was born on November 3, 1926 in Finley, Oklahoma to the home of Bill and Audie Standridge. She was reared and attended schools in Finley. She married Eugene Hugh Cooper on June 6, 1944 in Antlers, Oklahoma. While living in Santa Rosa, Teenie and her husband Hugh owned and operated the Cooper Feed Company for many years. She and Hugh made their home in Tucumcari in 1986. Tennie was a member of the Sunshine Chapter #44 Order of the Eastern Star. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her brother J.D. Standridge. Survivors include her husband Hugh Cooper of Tucumcari, her niece; Vickie Brown of Tucumcari, Sister; Nadine Brown and husband Dan of Finley, OK, nephew; Hugh Chambliss and wife Denise of Albuquerque, Brother in law; John Higgins of Fort Sumner, nephews; J.R. Higgins and wife Eva of Cuervo, Freddie Higgins and Joe Higgins of Dallas, TX, and Geno Higgins of Fort Sumner. Also surviving are many friends in Santa Rosa and Tucumcari. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 3, at 10:00 AM from Evergreen Cemetery in Santa Rosa. Serving as Pallbearers will be Hugh Chambliss, Don Thompson, Bo Cribbs, Ace Thompson, Dan Brown and Ted Hern. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be John Higgins, J. R. Higgins, Joe Higgins, Geno Higgins, Freddie Higgins and Albert Flinn. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Eastern Star Chapter 44, 300 Baca Ave, Santa Rosa, NM 88435. All services are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
