Acencion Rubio, 93 a longtime Clovis, NM resident died Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at his home following an illness. Mr. Rubio was born October 30, 1912 in Santa Rosa, NM to the home of Julio Rubio and the former Josefita Montano. Acencion was reared and attended school in Santa Rosa. He married Eufelia Lucero in Santa Rosa on September 24, 1932. Acencion served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman Second Class. He was honorably discharged on October 14, 1945. Acencion and Eufelia made their home in Clovis in 1944. He was employed for many years with the Clovis Schools Maintenance department. He was a carpenter. Acencion was a member of American Legion Post #25 in Clovis; Knights of Columbus Council 3205, a Fourth Degree Knight, a faithful member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where he served as a Minister of the Eucharist and was a longtime member of the Church Food Committee. His family says he loved to hunt, fish and always respected everyone he knew and everyone he met. Acencion was preceded in death by two infant children Erma Rubio and Gene Rubio; two daughters Guadalupe Lopez and Erma Guerra. Survivors include his wife of 73 years Eufelia Rubio of the home in Clovis; six sons Antonio A. Rubio and wife Lucy of Clovis; Julio Rubio and wife Esther of Clovis; Alberto Rubio and wife Christine of Portales; Alfredo Rubio and wife Gloria of Clovis; Eddie Rubio and wife Viola of Clovis; a grandson raised as a son Mark Rubio and wife Frances of Clovis; four daughters Cleo Duran of Clovis; Clara Gonzales and husband Reyes of Clovis; Marina Sullivan and husband Jerry of Clovis; a granddaughter raised as a daughter Carolyn Rubio of Clovis; also surviving are 47 grandchildren, 105 great-grandchildren and 67 great-great-grandchildren. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2006 from Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Clovis; Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 17th from the church with Father Sotero A. Sena officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. from St. Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa. Pallbearers will include Frank Rubio, Mark Rubio, Stephen Acencion Rubio, Arturo Rubio, Julio Anthony Rubio, Francis Duran, Reyes M. Gonzales; and Daniel Saiz.
