Margarita Quintana, 90 of Tucumcari and formerly of Cuervo, NM died Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Clovis Healthcare and Rehab Center. She was born April 22, 1919 in Chirisco, north of Cuevo, NM the daughter of Juan Bautista Quintana and the former Josefita Chavez. She was reared on the family ranch, attended schools at Sena and Santa Rosa, NM. Margarita worked as a clerk at a Cuervo mercantile store, she later worked at the Frontier east of Santa Rosa. She also worked for the Houlihan family for several years. She was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Tucumcari, NM. Margarita was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Claudio Quintana, Merenciano Quintana, and a nephew Ralph Quintana. Survivors include three nephews Johnny Quintana and wife Florence of Tucumcari; Claud Quintana and wife Rose all of Tucumcari; Pat Vigil of Alamogordo, NM; two niece Helen Quintana Salazar and husband Anthony of Espanola, NM and Pita Quintana of Alamogordo, NM. Also surviving are 12 great-nieces and nephews; two sisters in law Fidelia Quintana Grooms of Tucumcari and Angie Quintana of Alamogordo. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 pm Tuesday, May 5th from St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa; a funeral Mass will be celebrated from the church at 10:00 am Wednesday, May 6, 2009 with Father Joseph Thomas CMI, officiating. Burial will follow at San Cristobal Cemetery in Cuervo, NM. Pallbearers will include Manuel Gutierrez, Joe Ray Quintana, Tony Maestas, Albert Chavez, Steven Vigil and Joseph Marroquin.
