Romana Ambrosia Sena

Romana “Romie” Sena, 78 of Fort Sumner died Sunday, December 20, 2009 at her home following an illness. She was born December 7, 1931 in Fort Sumner the daughter of Hijnino and Ricardita (Martinez) Romero. Romana married Mariano Sena on February 14, 1948 in Fort Sumner. She was a loving stay at home mother who cared for her family. When her family was grown she worked and volunteered at the Pecos Valley Care Center for several years; she also operated Marion’s Snack Bar near the Fort Sumner Schools for several years. Since 1995 she has volunteered at the Michael T. Sena Family Center (The P.I.T.) in Fort Sumner. She was an active member of The Church on The Hill for many years. She was a member of the Twelfth Man Team at all Fort Sumner Fox Football games. Romana also enjoyed weight lifting and walking. She is preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, an infant Dorothy Jean Sena, and Cecilia Sena; two sons Tim Anthony Sena and Michael T. Sena; four brothers Carlos Romero, Alfredo Romero, Kenneth Romero and Manuel Romero and a sister Luisa Romero. Survivors include her husband of 61 years Mariano Sena of the home in Fort Sumner; three sons, Richard and wife Gloria Sena of Fort Sumner; Sam Sena of Fort Sumner, Gerald and wife Sarah Sena of Fort Sumner; two daughters Betty Jean Huerta of Clovis and Dorothy Pacheco and husband Paul of Fort Sumner. Also surviving is a sister Clara Olona of Clovis, 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 23, 2009 from The Church on The Hill in Fort Sumner, NM with Pastor Anna Teeter officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Paul Pacheco, Matt Sena, Josh Pacheco, Christopher Sena, Vincent Sena, Ezra Sena, Michael Brito, Paul Anthony Sena and Trent Sena. Visitation hours will be Monday and Tuesday from 1pm to 6pm at the funeral home. All arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner, NM.
