Wanda Lee Riley

Wanda Riley, 77 of Taiban, NM died Sunday, March 5, 2006 at Roosevelt General Hospital following an illness. Wanda was born December 20, 1928 in Clovis, NM to the home of Albert and Lilly Moss. She was reared in Clovis where she attended school. She later attended a beauty school in Clovis. Wanda worked as a waitress, babysitting, and in the Laundromat of a nursing home for several years. She married F.C. Riley on September 10, 1949 in Clovis, NM. They made their home in the Riley Ranch south of Taiban in 1949. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers Albert, Johnny, and Freddy; and three sisters Permalia, Doris, and Albertina. Wanda was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. Survivors include her husband F.C. Riley of the family ranch; three daughters Becky Melton of Fort Sumner; Katherine Dewbre and husband Bill of Rio Rancho, NM; Margaret York and husband Stanley of Amarillo, TX; one sister Mary Haws and husband Alfred of Amarillo, TX; two grandchildren, Ray Melton and wife Karen and Stanley York and wife Grace. Two great grandsons, Frederice Clarence York and Reese Melton. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2006 from the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Sumner, NM with Anna Teeter officiating. Burial will follow at Blanco Cemetery, south of Taiban. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner, New Mexico. www.chavezfuneralhome.com
