Antonio P. Sena

Antonio P. Sena, 75 of Santa Rosa, NM died Tuesday, January 2, 2001 in the Pecos Valley Care Center in Fort Sumner following an illness. Mr. Sena was born June 14, 1925 in Galisteo, NM to the home of Natavidad E. Sena and the former Sarah Pena. Antonio was reared at Galisteo and Stanley, NM where he attended and graduated from high school. He worked in construction for many years. He was a U.S. Lumber Grader and worked in building construction. He also worked heavy construction during the building of Cochiti Dam and Santa Rosa Dam. Antonio worked at Cochiti Golf Course for many years. He married Tillie Duran in 1951 at Our Lady of Los Ramados in Galisteo, NM. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and the rodeo. Antonio served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Headquarters Battery 223rd Field Artillery Group. He was honorably discharged on March 5, 1946. Antonio was a member of the Socidad de San Jose of Galisteo for over 65 years serving as treasurer for many years beginning at age 10. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, V.F.W. Post 11338; American Legion Post 36; and a life member of Disabled American Veterans NM Chapter 6. Antonio and Tillie made their home in Santa Rosa in 1992 where Tony was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. His parents, a sister M. Socorro Montano and an infant son preceded him in death. He was a loving husband, father and brother. Survivors include his wife Tillie D. Sena of the home in Santa Rosa; a son Antonio R. Sena and wife Elaine of Yuma, AZ; seven brothers Ernesto Sena and wife Rose, Eloy Sena and wife Sadie; Rudy Sena, Salamon Sena and wife Pauline; Leo Sena and wife Gina, Edward Sena and wife Dee all of Santa Fe, Alfonso Sena of Galisteo; three sisters Juanita S. Montoya of Bernalillo; Inez S. Montoya, Helen Angel and husband Bobby, all of Santa Fe and a Brother-In-Law Rudy Montano of Santa Fe. Also surviving are three grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews and many other relatives and family friends. Rosary services will be held 7:00 P.M. Thursday, January 4, 2001 from St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the church at 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 5, 2001. Burial will follow at 3:00 P.M. Friday, January 5, 2001 at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
