Vaudie A. Moyer, 70 of Fort Sumner, NM died Sunday, April 15, 2001 at her home following an illness. She was born November 22, 1930 in Tucumcari, NM to the home of Arthur Franklin Curry and the former Margaret Emma Cast. She was reared and attended school at Tucumcari, NM and Torrington, Wyoming. Vaudie married Loyal Moyer on September 4, 1949 at Tucumcari. Together they owned and operated Moyer Masonry Construction Company. Vaudie and Loyal made their home in Fort Sumner in 1971. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and Faithful Workers Sunday school Class. Vaudie was a member of a bowling league, a past member of the Fort Sumner Dance Club. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Vaudie was preceded in death by her husband Loyal Moyer on March 20, 1995; her parents; two brothers William Woody Curry; and Dud Wade Curry. Survivors include three sons Art Moyer and wife Janet; Bryce Moyer and wife Iva; Dana Moyer and wife Brenda all of Fort Sumner; one sister Leona Smith and husband Henry; one brother Bill Curry and wife Juanita all of Tucumcari. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, April 19, 2001 from the First Baptist Church in Fort Sumner with Rev. Coy Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in the Moyer family plot at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Brent Moyer, Matthew Moyer, Marco Moyer, Jeremiah Moyer, Timmy Sweet, Justin Ingram, and Dax Moyer. Honorary bearers will include the employees and staff of Moyer Masonry Construction Company and all her friends and neighbors. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
