Frank Gutierrez

Frank Gutierrez, age 70 passed away February 21, 2006 at St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe following an illness. Frank was born October 6, 1935 in Anton Chico, NM to the home of Frank J. and Julia Maestas Gutierrez. He was reared and attended schools in Anton Chico and the New Mexico School for the Blind in Alamogordo. He worked as an Activities Therapist at the Las Vegas Medical Center for numerous years retiring in 1992. He also worked at the State Capital in Santa Fe where he traveled by bus every day. Frank touched so many lives by his kindness and generosity toward others. He was a lifelong musician who taught himself to play all kinds of musical instruments despite his handicap. He was well known through his music and played with various bands. He had a sense of humor that kept him joking all the time. His faith was very special to him as he prayed the rosary daily. He loved chasing his kids and grandkids and had a special love for all of them. Frank was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anton Chico and also a member of the New Mexico School for the Visually Handicapped Alumni Association. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Horacio and Mariano Gutierrez, daughter; Diane Archuleta, brother in laws; Alex Velasquez, Joe Sisneros, Dick Henry and Al Rios, Nephews; Michael and Pierre Henry as well as his many Aunts, Uncles and Special Friends. Survivors include the love of his life and lifelong companion Lori Harste of Las Vegas, his children; Juliette and husband Edwin of Anton Chico, Connie Frances and husband Henry of Anton Chico, Louella and husband Leo, Olivia and husband Ramiro, Gloria and husband Benny; Joann and husband Joe, Darlene and husband Vicente, Bonnie and husband Glen, Joseph and wife Becky, Ernesto and wife Viola all of Denver, CO, Antoinette and husband Leroy of Anton Chico, Yolanda and husband Danny of Washington. Also suriving are 35 grandchildren including the ones he reared; James, Breezy, Britany, Crystal, Christopher, Tommy, Andrew, Abel and Delvin, 41 great grandchildren, Brother; Jesus Gutierrez and wife Gloria of Albuquerque, sisters; Erlinda Sisneros of California, Patsy Velasquez of Anton Chico, Maria Nina Henry of Albuquerque, Bennie Rios of Santa Fe, Terri May and husband Jim of Santa Fe, May Ulibarri and husband Narcisco of Pueblo, CO, Emma Contrerras and husband Frank of California, Cecelia Bredenburg and husband Robert of Las Vegas, NM, his honorary brother in life Manuel Ray Garcia and wife Lisa of Albuquerque as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be conducted on Friday, February 24, at 7:00 PM from St. Joseph Church in Anton Chico. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 25, at 11:00 also from St. Joseph Church with Father PatrickDuffy Officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Anton Chico. Serving as Pallbearers will be Benito Baca, Manuel Ray Garcia, Leo Saleh, Sonny Maestas, James Urioste and Christopher Gutierrez. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Bernal, Jimmy Rael, David Cordova, Evaristo Maestas, Martin Trujillo and Jeremy Velasquez. All services are entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
