Eduardo B. Trujillo, 90 a lifelong De Baca County rancher died Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at the VA Medical Center in Albuquerque following a short illness. Mr. Trujillo was born March 25, 1915 in Santa Rosa, NM the son of Abel Casaus Trujillo and the former Petrita Bazan. He was raised on the family ranch at Guadalupe west of Fort Sumner, NM. Eduardo attended school at Guadalupe. He served as a Private First Class in the U.S. Army from January 25, 1941 until his honorable discharge November 28, 1944. He participated in the Sicilian and Italian Campaigns and was wounded on November 20, 1943 in the Ceprigna Sector, Italy. His decorations and service medals include the Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, EAME & American Defense Service Ribbons, and two Battle Stars. Eduardo returned to the family ranch at Guadalupe where he continued the day to day operation of the ranch until his death. Eduardo was a faithful member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner; a Third Degree member of K of C Council 8331 in Fort Sumner; and a Fourth Degree member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Council in Santa Rosa, NM; a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Eduardo was a very learned man who read extensively including the New York Times. He was a staunch Democrat. Survivors include a sister Julia Sena and husband Lucas of Albuquerque; a nephew Dennis Sena and wife Natalia of San Antonio, TX; three nieces Sylvia Gonzales and husband Mario of Albuquerque; Anita Little and husband Kerry Lee of Oklahoma City, OK; and Kathy Horcasitas of Albuquerque. Also surviving are several other relatives including a cousin Joe B. Olona and wife Dolores of Albuquerque. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2006 from St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2006 from the church with Father Richard Olona officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Allen Dunn, Billy Wertheim, Mario Trujillo, Donald Olona, Michael Casaus, and Richard Casaus. The family would like to thank James Dunn for all the kindness, dedication and friendship he gave Eduardo over the years.
