Louisa A. Lucero, 76 of Anton Chico, NM died Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at her home following an illness. She was born July 7, 1933 in Tecolotito, NM the daughter of Fernando D. and Emilia (Romero) Baca. She attended school at Anton Chico and Santa Rosa. She graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1953. She married Bonifacio Lucero on February 25, 1957 in Anton Chico. Louisa worked as a teacher’s aide at the Anton Chico School where she also served as a foster grandparent. She enjoyed gardening, canning vegetables, arts and crafts, sewing and making pottery. She also enjoyed arrowhead hunting and searching her family genealogy. Louisa was a member of San Jose Parish where she was a member of the church choir. Louisa was preceded in death by her husband Bonifacio Lucero in 2007; her parents Fernando and Emilia Baca; three sisters Zulema Mendez, Estella Martinez and Antonia Gonzales; her mother-in-law and father-in-law Catarino and Maria Lucero; a grandson Leroy Joel Lucero; a great-grandson John Gabriel Langley; and daughter-in-law Darlene Lucero. Louisa was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She is survived by a daughter Beverly Baca and husband Leroy of Albuquerque; four sons Chris Lucero and wife Priscilla of Anton Chico; Leroy Lucero and Petera Martin Duran of Anton Chico; Antonio Lucero of Albuquerque and Andrew Lucero of Anton Chico. Two brothers Benito Baca and wife Bennie of Anton Chico and Fernando Baca and wife Dulcenia of Tecolotito; five sisters Lilia Lucero of Anton Chico; Celina Pino of Las Vegas; Corrine Gabaldon of Las Vegas; Rita Lucero and husband Leroy of Las Vegas; Margaret Gonzales and husband Juan of Bernal, NM. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. Rosary services will be held at 6:00 pm Friday, February 5, 2010 from San Jose Catholic Church in Anton Chico, NM with Gabby Velasquez leading the prayers. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, February 6, 2010 from San Jose Parish with Father Antonio Mondragon officiating. Burial will follow at San Jose Cemetery.
