Phyllis J. Meccico

Phyllis Meccico, 80 of Fort Sumner died Friday evening, February 5, 2010 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, NM following an illness. She was born Sept. 30, 1929 in Rifle, CO the daughter of John Mitchell Carey and Katherine (Mickel) Carey. She attended school at Rifle and Durango, CO. She later attended Cosmetology school in Denver. She worked as a beautician beginning in 1948. Phyllis married William Meccico on February 24, 1988 in Durango. Following their retirement they made their home in Fort Sumner in 1998. Phyllis enjoyed woodworking and ceramics. She was preceded in death by her husband William "Bill" Meccico on April 23, 2004; her parents and a sister Ethel Margaret Vesper in 1996. Cremation has taken place, her cremains will be interred t at Fort Sumner Cemetery. All arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N. Fifth Street; Fort Sumner, NM.
