Mary Sarah Marquez

Mary Sarah (Rael) Marquez, 53 of Albuquerque died Sunday, May 10, 2009 at her home following an illness. She was born June 23, 1955 in Vaughn, NM the daughter of Noah Margarito and Alice (Montoya) Rael. She made her home in Clovis for many years. Mary attended schools at Vaughn, Clovis and also attended Clovis Community College. She made her home in Albuquerque in 1996. Mary enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters, doing bead work, traveling, visiting the casinos, craftwork, and caring for her animal friends, a rooster, chickens and rabbits. Mary was preceded in death by her father Noah Rael in 2002, a daughter Yvonne Marquez in 1974; and a sister Helen Raposa in 2005. Survivors include her lifetime partner Joseph Fuentes; a daughter Melissa Marquez, son Jimmy Marquez, two granddaughters Ariel Marquez and Anastasia Medina all of Albuquerque; her mother Alice Rael; two sisters Joanne Rael and Margaret Rael all of Clovis. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009 from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Vaughn, NM. Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Vaughn, NM. Father Steve Sanchez will officiate. Pallbearers will include Mark Moya, Christopher Marquez, George Baca, Frank Chavez, Joanne Rael and Margaret Rael. Honorary bearers will be Joseph Fuentes, and Jimmy Marquez.
