Charles Ward Brashears, age 85, passsed away January 1, 2006 at the Autumn Blessing Assisted Living in Logan, NM. Charles was born September 20, 1920 in Vaughn, NM to the home of Perry M. Ward and Caledonia Galloway Ward. He was adopted by the Brashears family in 1925. Charles married Fonda Ewell on February 18, 1964 in Tucumcari after he fell in love with her after their first blind date. He and his wife Fonda were longtime cattle rancehrs in the Cuervo area. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Campos Senior Citizens. Charles is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Fonda and his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his stepdaughter Beverly J.Majors of Eqin, WA, stepson; Don Foster of Oakland, CA, nephew; Raymond Wright, and his cousins; Tom Ward, Charles Galloway and Harold Galloway as well as numerous friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 6, 2006 at 10:00 AM from the First Baptist Church in Santa Rosa. Burial will follow at the Cuervo Cemtery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Jake Autry, Ralph Harrison, Joe Rael, Walter Bailey, Doug Harrison and Leroy Knowles. All services are under the direction of the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
