Otilia G. Flores, age 73, passed away on January 28, at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque following an illness. Otilia was born October 25, 1935 in La Loma, NM to the home of Julian and Florinda (Chavez) Garcia. She was reared and attended schools in Vaughn. Otilia married Victor Flores on December 23, 1953 in Vaughn. She was a longtime resident of Puerto De Luna where she was a parishioner at Nuestra Senora de Refugio Catholic Church and a member of the Sacred Heart Society. Otilia loved to bake and cook and was always seen helping in any way she could at all the Nuestra Senora de Refugio Church functions. She was also a member of the Puerto de Luna Senior Citizens. Otilia is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Victor, a sister, Frances Apodaca; brother-in-law Benny Flores and a sister-in-law Arcelia Abeyta. Survivors include a son, Gilbert Arnold Flores and wife Elaine of Albuquerque; a daughter Eileen Moncayo and husband James of Puerto de Luna; grandchildren Victoria Flores, Virginia Flores, Julian Flores, Brandon Flores, Renee Schmitt, Steven Schmitt, Megan Schmitt, Lauren Schmitt, Brittney Moncayo, Felicia Moncayo, James Moncayo, Jr. and a great grandchild Ivan Flores. Also surviving is a sister, Susie Baca of Vaughn; six brothers Lee Garcia and wife Tina of Vaughn; Richard Garcia of Vaughn; Luperto Garcia of Alamogordo; Larry Garcia and wife June of Ruidoso; Andy Garcia and wife Carmen of San Diego, CA; Ted Garcia and wife Ramona of San Diego, CA along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Friday, January 30, at 7:00 PM from Nuestra Senora de Refugio Catholic Church in Puerto De Luna. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 31, at 10:00 am also from Nuestra Senora de Refugio Church with Father Nick Nichols officiating. Burial will follow and Nuestra Senora de Refugio Cemetery in Puerto De Luna. Serving as Pallbearers will be; Ramon Gallegos, Lalo Padilla, Merle Guinn, Romie Maestas, Ian John Serrano and Frank Madrid. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and all her friends.
