Florencia Lopez

Florencia A. Lopez, age 77, passed away March 12, 2009 at her daughter’s residence in Las Vegas, NM after an illness. Florencia was born March 21, 1931 in Newkirk, NM to the home of Miguel and Francisca (Benavidez) Lopez. She was reared and attended school in Newkirk and Santa Rosa. She married Juan Lopez on April 10, 1956 in Santa Rosa. Florence was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church where she was actively involved with Las Hijas de Maria. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed playing bingo. Florence made her home in Las Vegas, NM two years ago where she was being cared for by her daughter and granddaughter. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Juan Lopez, a son; Celestino Sammy Lopez, her brothers and sisters; Herculano Lopez, Hilario Lopez, Benigno Lopez, Santos Lopez, Miguel Lopez, Francisco Lopez, Mary Gonzales and Adela Sena. Survivors include her children; Anna Mae Coca and husband Nick, Jr. of Las Vegas, NM, John Lopez and wife Vivian of Santa Rosa, Roberto “Hogan” Lopez of Santa Rosa, Elena Chavez and husband Michael of Santa Rosa, Christine Legorreta of Albuquerque and her granddaughter and caregiver; Janna Lopez of Las Vegas. Also surviving is her brother; Jose D.Lopez of Santa Rosa, sisters; Aurora Elevario, Dolores Chacon of Santa Rosa, Dorothy Zamora of Albuquerque. Rosary services will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2009 at 7:00 pm from St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 16, at 10:00 AM also from St. Rose Church with Father Nick Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Marco Coca, Christian Legorreta, Richard Lopez, Michael Chavez, Jr., Celestino Lopez and Pamela Sandoval. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Nick Coca Jr., Michael Chavez Sr., Vivian Lopez, Carlos Montano, Steve Coca, Nick Coca III, and all her grandkids and great grandchildren.
