Guillermo Alfonso "Willie" Campos, age 78, passed away January 8, 2006 at Lovelace Hospital in Albuquerque following an illness. Willie was born July 12, 1927 in Puerto De Luna to the home of Guillermo and Susana Ramirez Campos. He was reared and attended schools in Puerto De Luna. Willie Served in the United States Navy during WWII as a Seaman Second Class and received the WWII Victory Medal. He married Filomena Dodge on January 20, 1947 in Puerto De Luna. Willie was a prominent businessman in Santa Rosa where he owned and operated Al's Bar for over 20 years. He was a longtime cattle rancher in the Puerto De Luna area and drove the school bus from Puerto De Luna to Santa Rosa for 40 years. He also served as Guadalupe County Commissioner in the late 1960's. Willie loved going to the horse races. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Filomena, an infant son, his sisters; Lillian Romero, Emma Chavez and his brother; Reynaldo A. Campos. Survivors include his sons; Larry Campos of Albuquerque, Steve Campos of Santa Rosa and David Campos of Albuquerque, brothers; Alfonso A. Campos and wife Ellen of Santa Rosa, Henry Campos of Paradise Hills, sisters; Dora Ulibarri and husband Ted of Belen, Viola Pacheco of Puerto De Luna, Julia Rush of Albuquerque, Edwina Romero and husband Epimenio of Santa Rosa and Esmeralda Cruz of Santa Fe. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 10, at 7:00 PM from Chavez Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Wednesday, January 11, at 10:00 AM from Nuestra Senora de Refugio Church in Puerto De Luna with Father Nick Nichols Officiating. Burial will follow at Nuestra Senora de Refugio Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Steve Campos, Larry Campos, David Campos, Guillermo Campos III, Narcisco Madrid, Jr., Ray Campos, Adolfo Cordova and Bennie Padilla. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Gerhardt, Leroy Gallegos, Maruicio Paiz, Mariano Paiz and all his friends. All services have been entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
