Nelson LeRoy McFall, 77 of Moriarty, NM died Thursday, July 16, 2009 at his sister’s home in Albuquerque following an illness. Nelson was born August 30, 1931 in Barton, NM to the home of James Nelson Reeves and the former Daisy Hicks. He graduated in 1948 from Stanley High School, Stanley, NM. Following high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served from 1949 until 1951. He married JoAnn Sharrock on January 11, 1954. They made their home in Moriarty in 1964. Nelson drove a truck for Coors Distributors from Albuquerque to Golden, Colorado; he also drove for Cheezy Daring Cattle Company, and worked at Duke City Oil Company. He was a procurement officer and Project Manager for the NM Department of Transportation for 25 years. Following his retirement he worked with his brother at A & P Construction. Nelson loved the outdoors; he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and his yard work. He was an artist; he designed and sold Indian Jewelry, Dolls and Clay Crafts. He was preceded in death by his wife JoAnn McFall on July 7, 2004; his father James N. Reeves; step-mother Helen Reeves; mother Daisy McFall and step-father Jake McFall; three sisters Alene (Dedo) Rogers; Billie Mullins and Mona Reeves-McFall; brothers Jimmy Reeves and Fredo McFall. He is survived by a son Mike McFall of Moriarty, NM; a daughter Suzy Reeves of Fort Sumner; three sisters Helen Fox of Albuquerque; Alice Calkins of Central Point, Oregon; Amy Buckmaster of Medford, Oregon and a brother Norman McFall of Albuquerque. Also surviving are four grandchildren Corby Reeves of Austin, TX; Dawn Reeves of Fort Sumner; Davin Reeves of Albuquerque and Ashley Stinnett of Fort Sumner along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, July 25, 2009 from Mountain View Cemetery in Moriarty, NM with Pastor Tom Mullins officiating. A reception will follow at the home of Larry and Elaina Irvin in Moriarty.
