Gilbert Roland Salazar

Gilbert Roland Salazar, age 38, passed away unexpectedly on December 12, 2005 at his residence in Santa Rosa. Gilbert was born December 21, 1966 in Santa Rosa, NM to the home of Bernabe and Rosa Sanchez Salazar. He was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa. Gilbert worked as a cook and construction and was recently employed with Travel Centers of America. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and arrowhead hunting. He served in the U.S. Army and the New Mexico National Guard. Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his daughter Candace Salazar, his 16 brothers and sisters; Christian Salazar and wife Katy of Santa Rosa, Katy Salazar of Carlsbad, Marvin Salazar of Santa Rosa, Tommy Salazar and wife Rosie of Fort Sumner, Priscilla Crawford and husband Bill of Quakertown, PA, Agatha Padilla and husband Tito of Albuquerque, David Salazar and wife Ramona of Santa Rosa, Theresa Rivera and husband George of Santa Rosa, Delma Maestas and husband Jose of Hurley, NM, JoAnn Romero of Albuquerque, Judy Moore and husband Michael of Golden, CO, Coreen Baca and husband Don of Maxwell, NM, Michael Salazar and wife Esther of Santa Rosa, Rosalind Schlink and husband Michael of Centreville, VA, Patrick Salazar and wife Peggy of Santa Rosa, Ralph Salazar and wife Loretta. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be conducted on Thursday, December 15, at 7:00 PM from St. Rose Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 16, at 10:00 AM also from St. Rose Church with Father Nick Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be; Tommy Salazar, Jacob Salazar, Steven Arrellano, Mike Salazar, Jr., Joshua Salazar, Brian Campos, Phillip Baca, Davian Salazar, Fermin Gutierrez and Albert Gutierrez. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Martin Baca, Benny Sanchez, Jessie Romero, Gilbert W. Romero, Brandon Salazar, David Salazar, Marc Salazar and Dominic Salazar.
