Liborio (Lee) Garcia, age 65, passed away suddenly on October 3, 2009 at the Guadalupe County Hospital in Santa Rosa. Lee was born on April 23, 1944 in Encino, NM to the home of Julian and Florinda Chavez Garcia. He was reared and attended schools in Vaughn. Lee married Tina Flores on February 19, 1966 in Santa Rosa. Lee was a lifetime resident of Vaughn where he worked for and ran several gas stations. He also drove the school bus for the Vaughn Schools and was a mail carrier transporting mail from Vaughn to El Paso, Las Cruces and Alamogordo. Lee was currently working for Rezenberger where he transported the Southern Pacific Rail Road Employees. He was a parishioner at St. Mary’s Church in Vaughn, he retired from the Vaughn Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Assistant Fire Chief and EMT. Lee enjoyed playing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother and will truly be missed. Lee is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters; Frances Apodaca, Otilia Flores, his mother and father in law; Honorato and Antonia Flores, brother in law; Cipriano Flores and sisters in law; Rita F. Sanchez and Martha Garcia, brothers in law; Victor Flores and Mike Baca. Survivors include his wife Tina of the family home in Vaughn, his daughters; Debra Garcia and Michael Brochu of Santa Fe, Yolanda Garcia and Michael Gauna of Santa Rosa, Vanessa Eastham and husband Christopher of Chandler, AZ, grandchildren; Kayla Ariel Rita Gauna, Kameron Michael Anthony Gauna, Autumn Antonia Zoe Eastham and Konnor Lee Matthew Gauna. Also surviving are his brothers and sister; Emeterio Garcia and wife Ramona of San Diego, CA, Andy Garcia and wife Carmen also of San Diego, CA, Luperto Garcia of Alamogordo, Richard Garcia of Vaughn, Larry Garcia and wife June of Ruidoso and Susie Baca of Vaughn, Brothers and sisters in law; Manual and Mary Flores of Santa Rosa , Predicanda and Juanita Flores of Puerto De Luna, Dolores Flores of Clovis, and Lorenzo “Tudy” Sanchez of Santa Rosa along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Tuesday, October 6, at 7:00 from St. Mary’s Church in Vaughn. A second rosary will be held on Wednesday, October 7, at 7:00 from Nuestra Senora de Refugio Catholic Church in Puerto De Luna. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 8, also from Nuestra Senora de Refugio Church with Father Joseph Thomas, CMI officiating. Burial will follow at El Calvario Cemetery in Puerto De Luna. Serving as Pallbearers will be Tommy Apodaca, Kayla Gauna, Kameron Gauna, Jessie Garcia, Michael Brochu, Jeffery Garcia, Michael Baca, Michael Gauna and Christopher Eastham.
