Siria Lucero, age 75, passed away on September 20, 2009 at the Guadalupe County Hospital following a long illness. Siria was born on April 8, 1934 in Santa Rosa to the home of Isidoro and Sarita Lerman Chavez. She was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa. Siria married Daniel Lucero on April 24, 1980. Siria worked as a waitress at numerous restaurants in Santa Rosa. She loved to cook, sew, read, spend time with her grandchildren and just being a mother. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and will truly be missed by all her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers; Archie Chavez and Guillermo Chavez. Survivors include her husband Daniel of the family home in Santa Rosa, her children; Frank Chavez and wife Annette of Albuquerque, Andy Chavez and wife Kenna of Ohio, Eddie Chavez of Santa Rosa, Debbie Gallegos and husband Mark of Santa Rosa and Vince Lucero and wife Michelle of Santa Rosa, her grandchildren; Denise Duran, Martin Chavez, Lauren Chavez, Myka Chavez, Alyssa Chavez, Sarita Campos, David Gallegos, Jessie Gallegos, Dan Gallegos, Ambria Lucero, Ashlyn Lucero and Anica Lucero, great grandchildren; Jacobo, Isabela and Justiniano. Also surviving are her brother and sisters; Macedonio Chavez of Santa Rosa, Marcelina Baca of Santa Rosa, Mary Lou Maestas and husband Tony of Cuervo, sister in law; Stella Chavez of Santa Rosa, sister in law; Ernestine Gutierrez and husband Gene of Santa Rosa along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Wednesday, September 23, at 7:00 PM from Nuestra Senora de Refugio Catholic Church in Puerto De Luna, NM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 24, at 10:00 AM also from Nuestra Senora de Refugio Church with Father Joseph Thomas, CMI officiating. Serving as Pallbearers will be Manuel Lucero, Daniel Gallegos, David Gallegos, Martin Chavez, Stanley Chavez, Ernie Romero and Charles Garcia. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be her Godchildren; Helen Abeyta, Rory Dean Martinez, Erica Padilla and Greg Martinez. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa.
