Alesa Hicks

Alesa Hicks, 98 a lifelong resident of Santa Rosa died November 19, 2005 at Monte Vista Nursing Home in El Paso, Texas. Alesa was born May 7, 1907 in Bluffdale, Texas to the home of Thomas and Virginia Holmes. Alesa married John L. Hicks on November 15, 1930 at Las Vegas, NM; they made their home on the Hicks family ranch east of Santa Rosa for many years. Alesa was a longtime member of the Methodist Church and Eastern Star in Santa Rosa. She was preceded in death by her husband John L. Hicks in 1995; her son John H. Hicks in 1978; a sister Mary Nell Holmes Cummins and two brothers Thomas (T.H.) Holmes and Frank Holmes. Survivors include a grandson John H. Hicks and wife Deana of El Paso, TX; two Great-grandsons John C. Hicks and wife Dawn; and Joshua B. Hicks. Visitation will be held on Friday from 1pm to 6pm at the Chavez Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 26, 2005 from the Methodist Church in Santa Rosa with Rev. Wesley Holland officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Santa Rosa. Pallbearers will include Kleve Bain, John C. Hicks, Walt Eastland, Ace Thompson, Bo Cribbs, Richard Blea, and Robert Blea.
