Michawn Leah (Vick) Rucker, 35 of Whitesboro, TX died Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at her home. Michawn was born December 21, 1972 in Fort Sumner, NM the daughter of Johnny and Marcia (Marshall) Vick. She attended elementary and mid school at Clovis, NM. She graduated from high school in Atlanta, TX. Michawn was a cosmetologist and worked for Super Cuts in Coeur D’ Alene, Idaho for five years. She married Jerry Rucker in Fort Sumner, NM in 1994. Michawn served in the U.S. Army as a Specialist E4. Her military specialty was Petroleum Supply. She received the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Lapel Button, Army Service Ribbon, Marksman Badge and Rifle Bar, Air Assault Badge, Driver and Mechanic Badge with Driver-W Bar. She was honorably discharged in July 14, 1995. Michawn made her home in Fort Campbell, KY, Fort Riley, KS, Colorado Springs, CO, Couer ‘D Alene, Idaho and for the past two and a half years in Whitesboro, TX. Her church home was The Church on The Hill in Fort Sumner, NM. Michawn was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. Through the time the family was blessed with her presence they all learned that no dream is unreachable and no one should ever be unloved. She taught her family how to love and raise good children. Michawn has finally made it home after all her travels. She will be dearly missed by her family. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Shirley Marshall and her maternal great-grandmother Myrtle Goedeke. Survivors include her husband Jerry Rucker; her children Danielle Marie Rucker, Victoria Lynn Rucker, Jacob Nelson Rucker all of Whitesboro, TX a step daughter Jessica Rucker of Auburn, CA; her parents Johnny and Marcia Vick of Sadler, TX; paternal grandfather Hubert Marshall and wife Melva of Fort Sumner, NM; and a brother Rex and wife Joni Vick of Denver, Colorado. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2008 from The Church on The Hill in Fort Sumner, NM with Sister Anna Teeter officiating. Military honors will be conducted by members of the NM National Guard, Santa Rosa, New Mexico. Cremation will take place, all arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 804 N.
