Cipriana “Cippy” Martinez, 72 of Vaughn, NM died Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at Tapia, NM. She was born January 20, 1933 in Tajique, NM to the home of Cipriano Lesperance and the former Trinidad Chavez. She was reared and attended school at Tajique and Abo. Cippy married Benito Martinez on September 16, 1955 in Vaughn, NM. They made their home in Negra, Clovis, and Encino before settling in Vaughn in 1965. Cippy enjoyed crocheting, gardening, raising flowers, keeping up with her pets and enjoying her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Benito on August 26, 2002; her parents; a grandson Jessie Romero, three brothers Luciano Maldonado, Albino Lesperance, and Andy Maldonado. Cippy will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by a son Raymond Lesperance and wife Carmel of Grants, NM; three daughters, Grace Roybal and husband Tommy of Fort Sumner; Jeanette Lopez and husband Daniel of Vaughn, NM; Judy Martinez and husband Daniel of Edgewood, NM; six step-daughters Elisa Roe and husband Russell of Rio Rancho, NM; Mary Baker and husband Gary of Conchas Lake, NM; Della Binkowski and husband Richard of Rio Rancho, NM; Lila Willoughby and husband Jim of Rio Rancho; Virginia Gauna and husband Louie; Carol Pohl and husband Joe all of Albuquerque; also surviving are two sisters Tomasita Lesperance of Grants, NM and Mary Apodaca and Joe Demecio of Los Chavez, and a special grandson Jerry Clayton. Other survivors include 28 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005 from the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Sumner, NM; a second rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Vaughn; Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday from St. Mary’s with Father Gerald Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Danny Lopez, Felipe Lopez, Mark Esquibel, Robert Clayton, Jerry Apodaca, Arthur Griego, Albert Griego, Harold Lerperance. Honorary bearers will include Garett Wayne Gaitner, Jessica Romero, Donna Esquibel, Angelica Gaitner, Janet Williams, Joseph Maldonado, Elizabeth Madrid, David Pohl, Eugene Apodaca and all her grandchildren.
