Rufus Allen Morrell

Rufus Allen Morrell, 73 of Clovis, NM died Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at St. Anthony Healthcare in Clovis following an illness. He was born November 5, 1933 in Grant, NM to the home of Charles S. Morrell and the former Ella V. Floyd. He was reared in Grant County. Rufus served in the U.S. Air Force as a mechanic. He worked for many years in law enforcement and served as undersheriff of Otero County. He retired in 1992. Rufus married Billie Mills on July 24, 1986 in Alamogordo, NM. Rufus was a life member of the National Rifle Association, and Fraternal Order of Police. He enjoyed horseback riding. He was preceded in death by his parents. Cremation has taken place and no local services are planned. Arrangements were under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner, NM.
