Vera Mae Maupin

Vera Mae Maupin, 94 of House, NM died Monday, December 15, 2008 at Clovis Healthcare Center in Clovis, NM. Vera was born January 21, 1914 in Madill, Oklahoma Territory to the home of William Thomas Dodd and the former Cory Evelyn Lary. She was reared and attended school at Mobadee, TX. Vera Married Lee Roy Maupin on September 16, 1929 at Clovis, NM. They made their home at House, NM in 1978. Vera enjoyed reading, watching bull riding, playing bingo and was a member of the House Quilting Club. She made her home at Clovis Healthcare Center in 2003. Vera was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lee Roy in 1983; a daughter Norma Janice McGehee in 2004; a sister Carrie Myrick and two brothers Joe and Melvin Dodd. Survivors include a son Leslie H. Maupin and wife Barbara of Melrose; three sisters Daisy DeFoor of Overgard, Arizona; Doreen Woods of Apple Valley, CA; Pearl White of Panama City, FL; one brother Thomas Henry Dodd of Webster, KY; also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, December 18, 2008 from First Baptist Church in Melrose, NM with Rev. Sherman Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Melrose Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Norbert Herrera, Vera Herrera, Rita Herrera, Josh Provence, Alan Provence, and Colby Maupin. Honorary bearers will be all her family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1pm to 6pm at the funeral home and Wednesday from 1pm to 2pm at the church. The casket will not be opened following the services.
