Mary Sue McShan

July 12, 1913 — April 10, 2007

Mary Sue McShan 93, of Lake Sumner, NM died Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at Heartland Continuing Care Center in Portales, NM following an illness. She was born July 12, 1913 in Dialville, Texas to the home of James Drennon Fulton and the former Ruby Mae Payne. She was raised south of Taiban, and attended schools in Canton, Taiban, and Lake Arthur, NM and graduating in Laramie , WY. Sue married Ira McShan in 1949 at Carlsbad, NM. Sue worked in medical records for several medical offices from 1951 through the mid 1970’s. She enjoy watching television and fishing, gardening and caring for her roses and flowers. Sue also enjoyed telling stories of her life, including being at Pearl Harbor during the bombing. Sue is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ira in 1996 and an infant son Dean Raymond McShan in 1949. Survivors include two brothers James L. Fulton and wife Marilyn of Willis, Texas and Billy Gene Fulton of Henderson, Texas; a nephew Chuck Fulton; and caregiver and friend Ana Baltes and husband Michael. Funeral services for Sue will be Friday, April 13, 2007 at 2:00 pm at the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Sumner, New Mexico with Rev. Roy Sloan officiating. Serving as Pallbearers will be Bob Prather, Joe May, David Fikany, Field Irwin, Gene Sena, Eugene Sena, Andrew Sosa, and Jessie Sanchez. Cremation will follow the Service, and burial of the cremains will take place at a later date at the Fort Sumner Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Sumner Cemetery Association PO Box 180 Fort Sumner, NM 88119.
