Eva Loree Teal

Eva Loree Teal, 88 a longtime Odessa, TX resident died Monday, June 28, 2004 at Blue Bonnet Nursing Home in Albany, Texas. She was a resident of Albany for six months. Eva was born March 24, 1916 in Comanche, Texas to the home of George C. Anderson and the former Elizabeth Gleaton. She was raised at Comanche, Weatherford, Littlefield, TX and Springer, New Mexico. Eva married Julius Crofton Teal on August 19, 1939 in Clovis, New Mexico. While Julius served in the U.S. Navy, During World War II, Eva worked in Rhode Island. They made their home in the Fort Sumner Valley where they worked side by side on the family farm. Eva loved to sew, work in her garden and cared for a beautiful flower garden. She loved all her family, especially her grandchildren, she never showed any favoritism, she loved each one equally, she was affectionately known to the grandchildren as “Granny”. Eva was a longtime member of Grace Baptist Church in Odessa, TX where Eva and Julius made their home for over 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Julius Crofton Teal; her parents; two sisters L.G. Sinclair, and Thelma Anderson; two brothers M.J. Anderson and Carl Anderson. Survivors include a son Richard Teal and wife Carlene of Pine Top, Arizona; three daughters Norma Moore and husband Wilford of El Paso, TX; Ruby Kitchens and husband Jerry of Albany, TX; Janet Moenk and husband Wes of Welton, AZ; eleven grandchildren, 24 Great-grandchildren also survive along with two brothers, Joe Anderson of Fort Sumner and George Douglas Anderson of Gaston, Indiana; seven sisters Jewel Sasser of Clovis, NM; Mae Del Hodge, Dorothy Neuman, Frances Nahlovsky, and Blanche Boyd all of Fort Sumner; Fern Hay of Milnesand, NM; and Wanda Mechnig of Roswell, NM; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 1, 2004 from the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Sumner, New Mexico with Sister Anna Teeter officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery. OBITUARY: Julius Crofton Teal (August 29, 1918 – March 8, 2004) Memorial Services for Julius Crofton Teal, age 85 who died March 8, 2004 in Yuma, Arizona. Julius was born in Comanche, Texas on August 29, 1918 to the home of Jess Teal and the former Ada Dyson. Julius was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy from September 14, 1942 until his honorable discharge on November 4, 1945. He served with the Construction Battalion “See Bees” at Iwo Jima. Julius was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge in Fort Sumner. Beside Eva and Julius’s family, he is survived by two sisters, Mary Martin of Seattle, WA and Clara Dyer of Hale Center, TX. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 1, 2004 from the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Sumner, NM with Sister Anna Teeter officiating. Burial of cremains will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery, Fort Sumner, New Mexico.
