Delese McLain

Delese McLain, 74 a lifelong De Baca County resident died Saturday evening , May 22, 2004 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque following an illness. Delese was born June 28, 1929 in Kress, Hale County, Texas to the home of Lonnie Leroy Bishop and the former Hettie Ethel Williams. She was reared at Fort Sumner and Taiban, NM where she attended schools. Delese worked in area Café’s and Restaurants for several years. She was a longtime member of The Church on The Hill in Fort Sumner and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Delese enjoyed quilting, embroidery, needlework, working on Ceramics and Painting at the De Baca County Senior Citizens Center. She also enjoyed spending time in her yard tending to her flowers. She was a loving sister, aunt, and neighbor. Delese was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jack McLain on June 1, 1950; and two brothers Jimmy Bishop and Darrell Bishop. Survivors include three brothers Kenneth Bishop of South Sioux City, Nebraska; Glen Bishop of Artesia, NM; Danny Bishop of Artesia and a sister Joan Branscum of Oklahoma along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many good friends and neighbors. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 25, 2004 from the Church on The Hill in Fort Sumner with Sister Anna Teeter officiating. Burial will follow in the Bishop family plot, Fort Sumner Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 1PM to 6PM and Tuesday from 10AM to noon at the funeral home.
