Clorie (Nelson) Baca, age 76, passed away peacefully at her home in Santa Rosa, New Mexico on Saturday February 12, 2005. Clorie was born May 15, 1928 in Pintada,NM to the home of Alberto C. and Isabel Martinez Nelson. She was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa graduating from Santa Rosa High School in 1947. She married Frank B. Baca, Jr. on Jauary 5, 1951 in Santa Rosa. Clorie worked for the Santa Rosa Consolidated Schools Cafeteria for 13 years. She also devoted her time taking care of her home and family. Her favorite pastime was attending the St. Rose of Lima Fiestas and playing bingo and the dime toss. She was famous for her green and red chile dishes and was the Chile Cookoff winner at the 1998 County Fair. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and she and her husband Frank prayed the rosary on a daily basis, never missing a day. She was an avid sports fan of NFL, Santa Rosa Lions and New Mexico Lobos. Clorie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will truly be missed. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Joe Nelson and Benny Nelson, mother and father in law Frank Sr. and Leandra Baca. Survivors include her husband Frank of the family home in Santa Rosa, her 11 children Leo Moya and wife Maria, Joe Albert Baca, Kika Baca and Trinidad Navarro, Jimmy Baca and wife Martina, David Baca, Alex Baca and wife Kathleen, Martin Baca, Leroy Baca and wife Deborah, Netta Baca and Peter Salazar, Anna Baca and Carolyn Baca as well as her beloved dog Peaches. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, sisters; Emily Chavez and husband David, Margie Reardon and husband Joe, brothers; Larry Nelson and Albert Nelson as well as numerous relatives and friends. Rosary services will be recited on Monday, February 14, at 7:00 from St. Rose of Lima Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 15, at 10:00 AM also from St. Rose of Lima Church with Father Nick Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be her 7 sons. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Trinidad Navarro, David Chavez, Joe Reardon, Benny Sanchez, Michael Sanchez, Orlie Garcia, Pat Salazar, George Griego, Arturo Griego, Chris Tenorio, Dennis Gallegos, Mel Roybal, Marla Dyer, Maida Thomsen, Olga Muniz, Grace Romero and Anastacia Baca.
