Haley Fiske Jr., age 68, of Santa Barbara, CA, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2008 following a brief illness. He was born February 7, 1940 in New York City. He was the son of the late Haley Fiske and Grace (Ohmer) Fiske. He was raised in Oakwood, CA and spoke fondly of living on the estate, which included the Schantz tower, of his grandmother and grandfather Grace and Will I. Ohmer. Haley attended Oakwood High School where he played baseball and later graduated from Marti High School in 1959. In 1961 he married Mary Anne Dice at Dayton, OH and relocated to Santa Barbara California. In Santa Barbara he studied at Santa Barbara City College (class of 1964). For 15 years he enjoyed a sales career in the water treatment industry at firms such as Culligan and Servisoft. He retired in 1979 to spend quality time with his family. For the next 20 years he was a league volunteer and coach for the Babe Ruth League. Later in life he developed passions in photography and personal computing. Over the years, driving between Ohio and California, Haley discovered the town of Santa Rosa, New Mexico. He enjoyed the hospitality of the people and swimming in the Blue Hole. Last year he purchased a home in Santa Rosa with the intention of enjoying his second retirement there. He is survived by his wife Mary Anne (Dice) Fiske; his daughter Suzanne Fiske of San Diego; his son’s Michael Fiske, Haley Ohmer Fiske and Christopher Fiske of Northern California. In the Dayton area he is survived by cousins, Mark H. Ohmer, Susan and Charles Castle, Jennifer Castle and Sarah Anne Castle; his mother in-law Geraldine Anthony; sister in-law Liz Cernevicius; and brother in-law William David Dice. He is also survived by his sisters Grace Ohmer Bowman of Cleveland Ohio and Phyllis Smith of Englewood Florida. Memorial service will be held June 22nd at the Unity Church in Santa Barbara CA. Communion Services will be held at 9:00 AM Saturday, May 31, 2008 from St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, NM with Deacon Arsenio Sanchez officiating.
