Ernest Tapia, age 59, passed away on April 4, 2007 at the Guadalupe County Hospital following an extended illness. Ernest was born November 15, 1947 in Santa Fe, NM to the home of Jose Reyes and Valeria Romero Tapia. He was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa. Ernest served in the United States Army from 1967 through 1968. He married Carol Chavez on October 24, 1970 in Santa Rosa, NM. Ernest enjoyed looking for arrowheads, hunting, hiking and working on his 1986 Trans Am. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Manuel Tapia and his mother and father in law, Juan P. and Edwina Chavez. Survivors include his wife Carol of the family home in Santa Rosa, his daughter Monica Tapia of Santa Rosa, grandchildren; Tiffany Sena and Zack Campos his pet Chihuahua Chica. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters; Rose Koroneos and husband Jimmy of Santa Fe, Susie Kuntz and husband Leonard of Albuquerque, Ann Tafoya and husband Ted of Santa Rosa, Tommy Tapia and wife Doris of Santa Rosa, George Tapia and wife Alice of Albuquerque, Paul Tapia and wife Juanita of Clovis, Elizabeth Montoya and husband Art of Rio Rancho, Dorothy Arteche and husband David of Rio Rancho, Sally Saiz of Santa Rosa, Albert Tapia of Santa Rosa, brother's and sister's in law; Sylvia Tapia of Albuquerque, Rose Marie Chavez and husband Leroy, MaryEtta Gallegos and husband Roddy all of Santa Rosa, Teryy Masias of Arizona, Ed Masias, Lynda Pantoya, Percy Flores, Roberta Masias all of Colorado, Richard Madrid of Texas, a special Aunt, Micky Urban of Albuquerque, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Sunday, April 8, at 7:00 PM from St.Rose of Lima Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 9, at 11:00 AM also from St. Rose Church with Father Sotero A. Sena officiating. Burial will follow at St.Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Andy Urban, James Dodge, R.J. Gallegos, Randy Saiz, Andrew Tapia, Mark Tapia, Charles Koroneos and Yolanda Garcia. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be all his nieces and nephews and his many friends. All services for Ernest are entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
