Barry A. Johnson, 67 a resident of Albuquerque since 1974 died Wednesday, February 2, 2000 at his home in Albuquerque following a short illness. Mr. Johnson was born Nov. 2, 1932 in Corvalis, OR. He made his home in Albuquerque in 1974 coming from Ft. Belvoir, VA. He was a 22 year U.S. Army veteran with the rank of Sgt. Major. Barry enlisted on Nov. 7, 1949. He left the service for a short time and re-enlisted and served until his retirement on June 20, 1974. His citations include the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Overseas Bars (2), Gallantry Cross with Palm. Barry was a member of American Legion Post 99 in Albuquerque. His parents preceded him in death. He is survived by a daughter Marlene and husband Dennis Houlihan of Albuquerque, a son Kenneth Johnson and wife Elizabeth of Dallas, TX; his former wife Hamako Johnson of Albuquerque, and one sister Barbara Davidson of Mill City, OR. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Terrell, Tristen, Taryn, along with five nieces and nephews. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14th from the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
