George L. Fox, 79 a resident of House, New Mexico died Wednesday, April 18, 2001 at Plains Regional Medical Center following an illness. Mr. Fox was born October 10, 1921 in Carbondale, Illinois. He worked for 30 years as a “Tramp Electrician” installing high wire across the country. He also worked as a Maintenance Electrician for General Motors for 20 years. George was a member of the Elks club where he served as Treasurer, Secretary, and Chaplain. He was preceded in death by his parents; George L. Fox Sr., and Ola (Medley) Fox, a daughter Norma Gish and a son Rocky Fox. George married Bessie Steele on May 10, 1974 at Lake Tahoe, NV; they made their home at House, NM in 1993. Survivors include his wife Bessie Fox of the home in House, NM; five daughters Janice Wilson and husband Ron of Ukiah, CA; Susy Soave and husband Mike of Willits, CA; Nancy Costello and husband Rick of San Jose, CA; Barbara Maupin and husband Les of Melrose, NM; Jan Pitts and husband Norm of Gilroy, CA; three sons Levern Gish and wife Kyle of Etna, CA; Gregory Fox and wife Hillary of Willits, CA; Al Davis and wife Karen of San Jose, CA. Also surviving are 31 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 21, 2001 from the Baptist Church in House, NM with Rev. Sherman Martin officiating. His cremains will be buried at sea. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home.
