Ruby Hernandez

Mrs. Ruben "Ruby" Hernandez, age 89, passed away unexpectedly February 20, 2004 at her home in Vaughn, NM. Ruby was born April 4, 1914 in Sena, New Mexico to the home of Nonito and Florencia Lopez Chavez. Ruby married Manuel Hernandez and they made their home in Vaughn. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vaughn and a member of Nuestra Senora de Carmel Sodality. Ruby enjoyed crocheting and cooking. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Manuel, her son Regino Hernandez and two brothers Elfego Chavez and Alfonso Chavez. Survivors include her daughter Pauline Chavez and husband Trinidad from Alamogordo, NM, her son Nonito Hernandez and wife Ruperta from Altus, OK, her grandchildren Ruby Gonzalez, Delilah Borunda, Cynthia Pierpoint, Monica Prudencio, Joseph Hernandez, Nonito Hernandez, Angela Shetler, Regino Hernandez and Diane Clausin. Also surviving are 13 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, her sisters Terry Lopez of Alamosa, CO, Marcelina Flores of Denver, CO and her brother Ernesto Chavez of Alamosa, CO along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Sunday evening at 7:00 from St. Mary's Church in Vaughn. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday morningat 11:00 also from St. Mary's Church in Vaughn with Father Hoi Tran officiating. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Vaughn.
