Elvira M Marez

Elvira M. Marez, age 83, passed away March 4, 2004 at Laurel Hills Nursing Home in Tucumcari. Elvira was born November 20, 1920 in Pintada Canyon to the home of German and Theresita Gonzales Martinez. She married Prudencio Marez in 1959 in Anton Chico, NM. Elvira was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and Las Hijas de Maria. Elvira is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Prudencio Marez, her sisters Soledad Chavez and Frances Baca, her brothers Frank Martinez, Agapito Martinez, Herman Martinez, Solomon Martinez, George Martinez, and a nephew Ignacio "Nash" Chavez Jr. Survivors include her Brother in Law, Ignacio Chavez of Santa Rosa, her nieces and nephews, Viola Macias and husband Juan of Santa Rosa, Berto Chavez and wife Julia of Edgewood, Joe Robert Chavez and wife Linda of Edgewood, Pete Baca and wife Toni of Bernalillo and Deanna Gonzalez and husband George of Borica along with numerous relatives and friends. Rosary services will be conducted on Friday evening, March 5, at 7:00 from St. Rose of Lima Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 6, at 11:00 AM also from St. Rose of Lima Church with Father Nick Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Berto Chavez, Sr., Berto Chavez, Jr., Ruben Chavez, Joe Robert Chavez, Pete Marez, Jr., and Max Lucero. All services are entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
