Lucy Evelyn Langham, 77 of Gladewater, TX died Thursday, March 4, 2004 at Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview, TX following an illness. Evelyn was born October 14, 1926 at Locust Grove, north of Fort Sumner, NM to the home of Henry N. Potter and Sadye Rae Potter, the former Sadye Julian. Evelyn worked as an Avon Representative in Wayside and Vega, Texas for several years. She married J.E. Langham on December 15, 1951 in Clovis, NM. Evelyn made her home in Fort Sumner and was a longtime member of The Church On The Hill. In March 1995 Evelyn made her home at Gladewater Nursing Home in Gladewater, TX to be near her family. She was preceded in death by her husband J.E. Langham in 1979; her mother Sadye Davis in 1981; a sister Faye Murdock in 1966; and a brother Norman Potter in 1992. Evelyn was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. Survivors include a son Ronnie and wife Bonnie Smart of Longview, Texas. A brother, Homer Potter of Teneha, Texas; two grandchildren Byron Craig Smart of Longview, TX and Veronica Smart Gleason of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 9, 2004 from The Church On the Hill in Fort Sumner with Sister Anna Teeter officiating. Burial will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery, north of Fort Sumner.
