Helen B. Reed

Helen B. Reed, age 61, passed away February 27, 2004 at the Guadalupe County Hospital in Santa Rosa following an illness. Helen was born November 5, 1942 in Pastura, NM to the home of Benito and Pablita Via Campos. She was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa. Helen was a longtime Guadalupe County Cattle Rancher, she worked as a secretary for numerous business, she also worked for Eastern Plains, bartending, Assistant Manager of Holiday Inn in Grants, NM, Victory Home Health and Saferide. Helen loved playing bingo, crocheting, arts and crafts, she played softball with her daughters and liked skinning rattlesnakes. She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Eddie U. Chavez, her grandson Pedro Baca, Jr., her brothers Alfonso Campos, Benito Campos, Andy Campos, her sisters Mary Medoza, Ida Segura, her son in law Anthony Porter and a brother in law Leroy Reed. Survivors include her husband Wayne Reed of the family home in Puerto De Luna, her daughters Tina Zamora and husband Larry of Clovis, Rose Porter of Deming, Rebecca Anaya and husband Anthony of Edgewood, Pauline Gutierrez and husband Frank of Santa Rosa, Tonie Higgins of Bristol, TX, Maria Delgado and husband Joey of Santa Rosa and 2 stepsons Kevin Reed and wife Kathy, Scott Reed and wife Jenny all of Iowa, LA. Also surviving are her brothers Carlos Campos and wife Paula of Hobbs and Jim Campos and wife Rose of Gilroy, CA, her sisters Rita Herrera and husband Jose of San Jose, CA, Rosie Martinez and husband Tommy of Azusa, CA, Nora Silva and husband Richard of Fresno, CA and a sister in law Margie Henderson of Georgia, 24 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place and rosary services will be recited on Sunday evening at 7:00 from St. Rose of Lima Church in Santa Rosa. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 am also from St. Rose of Lima Church with Father Nick Nichols officiating. Burial of cremains will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Tammy Gonzalez, Janice Gallegos, Yolanda Segura, Maria Elena Tapia, Denise Hamilton and Kathy Griego, Renee Kapacilli.
