Peggy Upton

Peggy Lucile Upton, age 79 of Mankato, Minnesota and formerly of House, New Mexico, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at Immanuel – St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato. Peggy was born August 8, 1928 to Herbert and Lucile (Battenfield) Rickard in Dora, New Mexico. She attended Clovis High School in Clovis, NM. Peggy was united in marriage to Thomas Tucker, who later passed away in 1973. She married Carl Upton in 1976 and he later died in 2001. She moved to Mankato in 2006. Peggy enjoyed gardening, reading the Bible, and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by four daughters, Linda Gaile Mitchell of Albuquerque, NM, Terry Neal of Las Cruces, NM, Latricia (Jim) Stone of Alpena, AR, and Tami (Lacy) Wilkins of Mankato; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren with one on the way; one sister, Patsy (Ron) Whittemore of Portland, OR; two nieces, two nephews, and many special cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; one sister, Ann Malone and one nephew. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1PM to 6PM at Chavez Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 9, 2008 from the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Sumner, NM with Rev. Cliff and Bonnie Mohr officiating. Burial will follow at Hassell Community Cemetery in Hassell, NM. Pallbearers will be Matthew Neal, Jeremy Mitchell, Marc Neal, Bobby Wilkins, Thom Wilkins and Joshua Neal. Local arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner.
