Edith M. McWherter

Edith McWherter, age 90 a longtime House, NM resident died Sunday, August 31, 2003 at Gerald Champion Memorial Hospital in Alamogordo, NM following an illness. Edith was born June 27, 1913 in House, NM to the home of Frank Kirchmeier and the former Lona Mae Dwight. She attended school at House, NM graduating in May 1932. Two weeks after graduation on June 15, 1932, Edith married Glen E. McWherter at Clovis, NM. She was a talented seamstress for many years. Edith served on the House Village Council for 4 years and was a lifelong member of House Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Glen on May 12, 1965; six brothers Elton, Elmer, Earl, Everett, Ernest, and Edgar Kirchmeier. She is survived by a brother Ervin Kirchmeier and his wife Wilma of Alamogordo, New Mexico; two sisters-in-law Alyce Kirchmeier of California and Nina Kirchmeier of Alamogordo, NM. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 2, 2003 from the Browning Cemetery north of House, NM with Rev. Sherman Martin officiating.
