Susie Guilliams, 98, a longtime Fort Sumner business owner died Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, NM. Susie was born March 5, 1905 in Bonham, Texas to the home of John Davis and Nanny Morris. She moved with her family to Tolar, NM in 1906. Susie operated a trucking firm for 17 years prior to purchasing a café in Fort Sumner. She owned and operated Sue’s Café from 1942 to 1994. Susie was a Methodist. She was preceded in death by a son Jess Guilliams; two sisters Lela Mae Cook, and Christine Simmons; five brothers Jerry, Hubert, Curtis, Clifford, and Jack Davis. Survivors include a daughter Merlene and husband William Hill of Clovis, two daughters-in-law Phyllis Dean of Kansas City, MO and Jan Guilliams of Holt, MO; 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 3 Great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A private memorial service in conjunction with a family reunion will be held at Ceta Canyon, Texas. The family prefers memorials to the Fort Sumner Cemetery Association, P.O.
