Valeria R. Tapia, age 88, passed away on July 14, 2003 at Manor Care Sandia Nursing Home in Albuquerque following an illness. Valeria was born July 13, 1915 in San Miguel County to the home of Manuel and Eugenia Romero Marquez. She married Jose Reyes Tapia on September 7, 1931 in Palma, NM. They made their home in Santa Rosa in 1958. Valeria loved to knit, crochet, cook and visiting with her neighbors and her family. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church where she was an active member of the Altar Society. Valeria is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jose Reyes and her son Manuel Tapia. Survivors include her children Rose Koroneos and husband Jimmy of Santa Fe, Tommy Tapia and wife Doris of Santa Rosa, Susie Kuntz and husband Leonard of Albuquerque, Sally Saiz of Santa Rosa, Ann and Ted of Santa Rosa, George Tapia and wife Alice of Albuquerque, Ernest Tapia of Santa Rosa, Albert Tapia of Santa Rosa, Dorothy Arteche and husband David of Rio Rancho, Paul Tapia and wife Juanita of Clovis and Lisa Montoya and husband Art of Rio Rancho. Also surviving is her daughter in law Sylvia Tapia of Albuquerque, her brothers and sister Florian Romero of Moriarty, Joe Marquez and wife Connie of Santa Fe and Carmen Jimenez of Santa Fe, 35 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services were held on Wednesday evening at 7:00 from St. Rose Church. Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday morning at 10:00 also from St. Rose Church with Father Nick Nichols officiating. Burial followed at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers were her grandsons James Koroneos, Andrew Tapia, Ted Saiz, Patrick Pacheco, Wayne Tapia, David Arteche, Jr., Daniel Tapia and Mark Tapia.
