Ramon E. Montoya, age 54, passed away September 1, 2003 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Albuquerque following an illness. Ramon was born January 25, 1949 in Vaughn, NM to the home of Leandro and Viola Aragon Montoya. He was reared and attended schools in Vaughn. Ramon served in the United States Army from 1968 thru 1970 and was stationed in Germany. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for over 15 years as a Trackman. He married Linda Iancenio July 11, 1991. Ramon was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vaughn. He loved music and playing his harmonica with the band Los Vatos. He enjoyed model airplanes, metal detecting and fishing. Ramon loved sports especially the Pittsburg Steelers; his dream came true when he was able to attend a Steelers game. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Anthony Montoya and his sister Arlene Montoya. Survivors include his wife Linda of the home in Vaughn, his children Evaristo Montoya, Steffanie Montgomery and Nicolas Montoya all of Albuquerque, his brothers Ruben Montoya and wife Laura of Santa Fe, Leandro Montoya and wife Tomaista of Roswell and Rosalie Read and husband David of Albuquerque. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Alisha Montgomery, Zachary Montgomery and Sebastian Montoya, numeros nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and many friends. Cremation has taken place, a memorial rosary will be recited on Friday, September 5, 2003 at 7:00 pm from St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vaughn. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 6, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. from St. Mary's with Father Patrick Duffy officiating. Burial of cremains will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Vaughn, NM.
